UMNO A Racist Party?

Unity The Pillar to Success (Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan) was the theme for the 51st National Day celebrated nationwide yesterday and the Government call was immediately tested by the controversy surrounding Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail whom had allegedly the Chinese as pendatang (immigrants).

It's shocking!

The nationalistic feeling being Bangsa Malaysia celebrating the National Day had not died down when this controversy arose which the rakyat have all celebrated with pride and joy being together for 51 years in this country we all call Malaysia.

Abdullah Badawi defended the leader saying "Ahmad didn’t mean it". Abdullah is only willing to “I will tell him not to do it again. You know in a campaign all sorts of things can come up. I don’t think he meant it. I’ll make sure to tell him not to use it again.”

It's a weak response of a PM who had called for Malaysians to overcome every test if we stand together and before that he had appealed for racial tolerance. His lame action to address the racist remark is definite to draw flak from all Malaysians.

Malaysians are equally concerned if Abdullah really meant what he said in his 51st National Day address aired over the TV of 'A united people is the anchor to stability, harmony'. With such action from him, his message remains a question for many.

Besides, it further confirms the rakyats' view of UMNO as a racist party and interested to champion their "Ketuanan Melayu" (Malay Supremacy) and Islam Hadhari agenda which had time and again being widely criticised by Malaysians as it was an objective with a racist overtures.

Lim Kit Siang had started the urgent call for drastic action by Abdullah on the eve of National Day and says it is a test case of whether BN leaders are true Bangsa Malaysia. Meanwhile Gerakan and MCA including SUPP (all BN component parties) want stronger action against division chief had voiced out claiming.

MCA vice-president Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn had referred strongly condemned the racist remarks by Ahmad saying "It's Seditious!".

Police reports lodged against Ahmad by MCA and DAP leaders today over Ahmad's remarks.

Such remarks further speed up the demise of Abdullah as PM and UMNO into oblivion. The party had been vocal previously with some reported racist remarks by Khairy and Hishamuddin to name few. Umno perceived as racist, says Ku Li.

UMNO agenda is definitely a non populist as compared to Anwar's vision of Malaysia belongs to all races which is well accepted by Malaysians today. This event is akin to hammering one of the last few nails into UMNO/BN's coffin amidst opposition calls for "Kuburkan BN" instead of Khairy's loud call for "kita 'kuburkan' politik Anwar" (we bury Anwar's political future).

Another 15 days to September 16, 2008 while Tajol Rosli's prediction of Perak State Government falling back into BN's hands on 31 August 2008 remains his self created dream.
