Malaysia - 51 years And Unity Is Still Called Upon

As majority of Malaysians wanting a peaceful, harmonious and growth for Malaysia regardless of race and religion, there are still many individuals within the main political party of UMNO chose to champion the Malay rights (Ketuanan Melayu).

It is perceived as racist in nature though and bringing in inequality of economic development for other ethnic Malaysians in this country with diversity of race and culture which brought to the tourism theme of "Malaysia Truly Asia".

UMNO, instead of focusing on the country's growth post 12th GE, they had been focusing on internal politics and racial overtures to strengthen their hold among the Malay race and party. This as Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah had said, UMNO is perceived as a racist party which is absolutely true since the party leaders prefer to delve issues of this nature.

Should Malaysia have economic growth and success, it is not the effort of a single race but truly a cohesive partnership of individuals from all races. When a single race chooses to claim ownership or egoistic over the achievement and others being sidelined, that's where all hell break loose.

As political leaders especially UMNO, they should be more matured and the times of racial politics are something of the past which is not relevant in these present world. Indulgence in such practise will give rise to destruction not only to the party but where Malaysians are concerned, the country.

Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan (Unity is the Pillar of Success) would be deemed an early failure if UMNO leaders do not understand the actuality of living under one roof as Bangsa Malaysia.

The immature thinking UMNO leaders cannot be blamed for such thoughts anyway, as they had been for 50 years living in all sorts of special benefits, contracts, programs and etc. where they had missed the competitive mentality e.g. a signing ceremony involving the UMNO Government be called off last minute.

With these "special passages" comes corruption and cronyism as seen in the run-up to UMNO party elections. So where is the competitive mode?

Those educated and exposed to education overseas would be much more prepared for the real world as competition is what sets the standards and growth for these group. This is evident in the way these group of Malays behave, speaks and thinks. Very open thinking and high tolerance level in short (except for that Oxford boy who wants to be the Emperor).

Even in school and sports today, is Malaysia where we are supposed to be? We used to be a powerhouse in football and on par, not better with Korea, Japan, Iraq and etc. FAM have elected office bearers who only talk football and with financial capability to stand in office instead of having people who have walk the path as a player and knows the hardship or efforts required to compete on the world stage. It's better for politicians to focus on governing and build the country instead of getting involved with everything.

Kelantan Umno Chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa today asked fellow Barisan Nasional (BN) component party Gerakan to stop demanding that Umno and the BN penalise Bukit Bendera UMNO division chief, Datuk Ahmad Ismail over his alleged racially sensitive remarks about the Chinese community which he claims was made in his personal capacity here.

Yet again, a living example of a racist and if the remark was made in public, how can it be personal and Ahmad should be aware of the do's and dont's since he was speaking to the public. This can only go on to confirm the maturity, acceptance and commitment of UMNO leaders towards Bangsa Malaysia.

It is yet to be seen of any UMNO leaders who really comes out to call for action against Ahmd and speaks strongly against racism. Why do Malaysia still have to maintain a national day theme of Unity now that we are 51 years on?
