Azeez King Of Rempits!

I would be unperturbed about the "haram" ways UMNO grab power in Perak and now Kedah! What shocks me and probably Malaysians at large are the King Of Mat Rempit, Azeez instigates the "mamats" to go on the streets disturbing the peace and how they have openly declared that UMNO is the law and not the police!!!!

Azeez, the ex-Putera Umno chief, also said that although he was now in the supreme council, he would defend Mat Rempits if they were in trouble.

Azeez told the 200-strong crowd of mostly Malay Malaysian men: "Go ride your motorbikes around town until midnight tonight, and until 5pm tomorrow, not to scare people but to raise their spirits."

Several other local Umno Youth leaders repeated to the youths present: "Follow the law, but if the police give you a hard time just give us a call."

This certainly does not augur well for Najib in his first few days as the Prime Minister of Malaysia. If he supports this, then UMNO and the Malaysian Government have not changed!!!!

Being the President of UMNO and PM of Malaysia, Najib must take immediate steps to condemn such call and no wonder we see much more motorcyclists defying the law on public roads. The public at large are presently worried sick over Mat Rempits and such irresponsible call from UMNO leaders provides added concern for all Malaysians.

Being the supreme leader of UMNO, Najib must be responsible for such uncivilised call from his subordinates and Malaysians at large left to wonder if the "samseng jalanan" attitude would be further supported by the UMNO leadership.

Where are we heading in terms of Malay morality and being civic minded?

With UMNO supporting such acts and able to control the enforcements, UMNO is very close to declaring the public roads theirs!!

For me Azeez's call is sheer stupidity!!!!!

Simply brutal and lies

Harapkan Pagar, Pagar Makan Padi!

Today without doubt, many Malaysians would agree the above simpulan bahasa being imposed on the Royal Malaysian Police Force especially after the latest death in police custody of S.Kugan.

Did the Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar lied when commenting the cause of death "was due to pulmonary edema or fluid accumulation in the lungs"? This was the opposite with AG's comments here which says it's a murder!

May we ask how the injuries on the bodies happened? The "mob" forced their way into the Serdang Hospital and locking out the hospital staff but would they inflict bruises on a dead person on purpose especially on a loved one?

Would a 2nd post mortem be relevant now that the Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar had denied the family of Kugan the benefit of doubt here?

Was there a history of Malaysian police brutality here?

AND more lies involving Malaysian Government surfacing here!

May the soul of the late S. Kugan rest in peace and justice be brought against the "animals" inflciting the injuries. Being in Malaysia, I wonder .......

X'mas merry making with an UMNO political touch!

Stays in Melaka blessed with lots of good food and great people, had never been a disappointment The “Sleepy Hollow” tag had been shed off long ago and this city is now bustling with activities during holidays and weekends.

It had been sometime since I last set foot in historical city of Melaka. The long X’mas weekend provides me the opportunity to experience the splendor of this small city only to realise that I had add further complications to the choke-a-block narrow streets of the UNESCO Heritage Historical City last weekend. Traffic was reduced to a crawl almost daily.

Very interestingly, the traffic jams are concentrated in the heritage belt of Jalan Laksamana, Jalan Bunga Raya, Jonker Walk, Dataran Pahlawan and Taman Melaka Raya where all the action is. This had resulted in Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam in an almost immediate re-action to request from Federal Government added funds to build coastal roads to reduce traffic congestion here.

Hotels made brisk business on sale of rooms and with the Malaysia Savings Sale going on, shoppers took the opportunity to shop at leisure.

I received an SMS from a friend looking for accommodation in Melaka on 26 December for 2 days which I bluntly replied “go online and book direct with hotel”. Hotel had closed out the dates almost 2-3 weeks ago and last minute room requirement is near impossible during this weekend. Lucky for me, I always have readily accommodation whenever I get into the state.

During the stay, I headed to Serkam (for ikan bakar) through Padang Temu when I noticed that UMNO had organized a party assembly in Melaka during X’mas with party flags majestically hung on the lamp posts along Jalan Ujong Pasir.

Those flags mushroomed overnight and I was thinking again, whether this was another blatant UMNO manouvre of disrespect to other race and religion as they had done during last year’s Deepavali celebrations.

Further probing, I found out that Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and a host of other VIPs are attending the National Level X’mas Day Open House celebrations in Portuguese Settlement on December 27. Whatever the intentions were to hang those party flags to coincide with the celebrations is utterly disgusting and deserved condemnation!

A elderly Melaka Malay lady I met at the roti canai stall along Jalan Ujong Pasir, quoted “UMNO Melayu dah hilang adat!” It was a sensible comment that political party flags should not be hung since the event will be attended by foreign tourists, dignitaries, 43 Miss International Tourism contestants and 50 foreign journalists.

Monies to organize this event came from the Government coffers and belong to the public which rightfully is a public event. This is where the inability to differentiate between party and government events is always a problem for UMNO which eventually led to abuse of public funds.

Hilang adat satu tapi yang lagi teruk, UMNO dah tak tahu bezakan baik sama buruk.” added a local Malay gentleman.

Chong sama si Joseph ni (referring to his buddies with him), kita dah berapa tahun duduk gerai ni makan sama-sama, tak pun kita rasa benci antara satu sama lain tapi kerajaan mau kaga-lagakan kita. Mana boleh!” he added with his Chinese and Eurasian friends in their late-fifties nodded in agreement.

Joseph added in a mixture of English and Bahasa Melayu which have been a norm in Melaka “In my years living in Malaysia (Malaya those days), I rasa, 4-5 tahun kebelakangan ni yang paling buruk.

The sentiment echoed those of people in Kelantan and Terengganu whom I met recently, which would safely conclude that they have rejected UMNO style of politics after 50 years in power. The Kuala Terengganu Parliamentary seat by-election this coming January ’09 would possibly prove disastrous for UMNO and perhaps the only state in Malaysia with “2 Menteri Besar”.

Had UMNO lost its plot in differentiating a public event with a political event??

Shame on you UMNO!

Monsoon Cup - Hello KK and Bye Terengganu

Is there anything new about present batch of Government leaders making a cohesive decision before announcing?

Afraid not and reflects the weak leadership besides the "Ketuanan Melayu" mentality of the majority UMNO represented leaders in the Malaysian Government whom are turning the country into their "self-owned" country instead of representing the rakyat.

The latest being the announcement by Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, Minister of Tourism, who had got herself into a real mess and adding futher confusion to announce that Monsoon Cup may be held in Kota Kinabalu (KK) instead of the traditional location of Kuala Terengganu.

Is this a punishment to the present "renegade" Terengganu State leadership for
(a) not agreeing to Idris Jusoh to continue as Menteri Besar,
(b) purchase of the Mercedes fleet as official cars for the State Excos and subsequent expose of
the high maintenance costs,
(c) the request for petroleum royalties to be managed by the state and
(d) taking over of the Islamic theme park from Patrick Lim led group?

It takes another few days prior to the the announcement for the Prime Minister to quote "Terengganu Government and organisers of the Monsoon Cup should bring the event to greater heights" which could literally translate as goodbye Terengganu and hello KK.

To critics and analysts, this move seems appropriate now that the PM does not have any deemed vested interest in the projects around Pulau Duyung including Crystal Mosque and Taman Tamadun Islam which had all been taken over by the State Government.

With the headlines screaming "Monsoon Cup set to go places" and "Uncertainty Over Monsoon Cup", people of Terengganu can safely bud farewell to the sailing sport which PM Abdullah loves the most albeit the made in Turkey luxury yatch which he had intended to park among the elites whom had purchased properties in Pulau Duyung.

People of Terengganu with many still living in poverty and retaining their decade old passed down activity as fishermen, had till today wonder what benefits or entertainment had they really derived from the hosting the event. The fact that Pulau Duyung was "grabbed" as the event location reflects the "couldn't care" attitude of the previous Government in cohort with Abdullah led Federal Government.

Isn't this bullying?

Or imagine what the RM4million minimum cost used to organised this event by the State Government with more financing coming from Federal Government or rather tax payers money could have been put into better use since it's inception.

With KK hosting the event, it would at least help bring the East Malaysian people and state closer to the Federal Government. In addition, it would be seen as an easier route to manage such events without State interference or objections as one may see with the Terengganu Government today.

Whatever it is, the writings are on the wall and waiting for the actuality to take place. Be informed.

Simple Task Made Difficult!

What can we say with the Tourism Ministry leader more interested in filling up their personal pockets despite the many claims for spending to promote tourism abroad when a simple task such as updating a website cannot be executed decently!

Looks like Jejak Azalina was not able to "jejak"(track) for the website update with the recently launched "The Malaysia Savings Sale" by DPM when the website http://www.malaysiamegasale.com.my/ as advertised on the promotional banners etc. are still with the previous sale carnival and the upcoming sales carnival is just 2 weeks away. Efficiency?

Zoom (ing) into tourism destruction?

Every Ministry the former UMNO "princess" takes charge is tainted with scandals or controversies with the latest being R. Nadeswaran and Terence Fernandez of The Sun's revelation on "Poser over excessive staffing at Ministry" and a "Zoom for doom".

If that is not enough, well, the other controversies being;
(a) then director-general of Tourism Malaysia Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab's corruption
charges
(b) RM10million allocation for booth in Beijing Olympics and
(c) Online advertising and website costing millions

This "princess" is a far cry from Datuk Kadir Sheikh Fadzir and everyone related to the Tourism Industry would vouch that this particular individual had done lots of beneficial tourism projects to promote Malaysia besides accommodating and a listener to the industry players of any difficulties they faced.

This "princess"? No worthwhile comments!

Who needs to see the 3 faces on billboards? Can placing the 3 faces on the billboards really encourage tourists into Malaysia or it could also deter tourism in Malaysia.

So, Zoom what?

Will we see more of Abdullah's flip flops before March 2009?

The series of events arising lately had given much space for speculation of the political landscape of Malaysia in the coming months and the uncertainties of an outcome is unclear with many possibilities.

Some of the events which took place worth noting are;

1. PM Abdullah Badawi's decision not to contest for the coveted No. 1 post in the UMNO
elections which was postponed to March 2009 for the purported transition of power.

2. Patrick Lim's resignation as Chairman from Equine Capital.

3. Followed by Datuk Seri Kalimullah Hassan resigned as Deputy Chairman of NSTP.

4. The leaked SMS of Abdullah's "hope" and "conditions" for the present DPM.

5. The surfacing of SMS chat scripts between a DPM and a prominent lawyer.

There is also the high profile on-going court hearing of RPK and Anwar Ibrahim where the "backs" of the prosecution team are being widely exposed by the defence would give the present leaders more worries on top of the UMNO nominations being held presently.

Would the world see more of Abdullah's "flip flop" decisions before March 2009 which could change the political leadership of Malaysia or gateway to Perth is in the pipeline?

Naheen Datukship Shah Rukh?

Something is seriously wrong with conferment of this particular Datukship

1. a former Government official's ability to "influence" the award,
2. by virtue of a single movie filmed in the state and
3. the CM's role in pushing the "buck" to the former Government official?

NST quotes Ali Rustam saying six movies while The Star says a single movie. So which is right?

If it is based on movie that promotes Malaysia, then Sammi Cheng and Richie Ren's Summer Love movie shot entirely on location at Pulau Redang, Anna and The King featureing Chow Yuen Fatt and Jodie Foster and Sean Connery with The Entrapment would definitely be eligible for Datukship as well based on the locations which exposed Malaysia's tourism sites much more.

There is definitely a huge question mark and caused Malaysians all over asking "What stupidity is this?"

Best of all, they can't even locate him and doubt the recipient is even aware of the award. He might be asking "Datuk?" What Datuk or Why Datuk?" Or he could have already said "Naheen" to the title.

This particular conferment makes Datukship looks "cheap"!

Respect Leaders? Excuse Me, Are You Our Respected Leader?

Najib has started behaving like a PM but the "foul smelling" UMNO mentality may prove difficult for the minds of Malaysians to accept. His wife must now be the happiest Malaysian Minister spouse and whole lotta dreams.

If he aspires to be a true leader, he should start efforts to gain respect from Malaysians but quoting "people must reject quarters who did not respect their leaders" is just equivalent to forcing down the rakyat's throat to toe the line as how UMNO had practised to a near destruction this moment.

Najib's statement follows the recent threatening calls by MCA Klang Division Chairman Datuk Teh Kim Poo and stinks like a "poo-poo"!

Would Malaysia be in better hands and economic growth post Abdullah era?

The answer is, doubtful!

In view of such statements and the "rat race" going on for UMNO No.2 position, it will be more of a race for party "(personal) economy" supremacy rather then sincere objectives to serve the people of the nation.

Where the agreed rule that leader of UMNO, as majority in the ruling coalition would hold the Prime Ministership and Deputy, it is obvious that any party member whom have sufficient support woul take a pot shot at the position. When "money, money, money" is at the centre of the attraction, the lesser known unhappy potential UMNO candidates gets thrown to the back of the line.

Najib time and again forgot that, it was the Malaysian rakyat who voted him into the position and shall not be bullied into submission to toe the line like UMNO members. Perhaps it is time for Malaysians to elect candidates that have real interests to serve and contribute to the nation.

PAS reps attend Chinese festival at temple! Surprise? This raises a challenge to UMNO if they would match this feat?

In actual fact it's Najib who did not understand the basic tendency of courtesy and rude who did not respect the rakyat aspirations. So where is the love Najib?

Simple plain truth is BN and UMNO are all heading into political wilderness when the equation to be in party positions is still MONEY! Where is the love and pride in serving the people and country?

Datukship(s) and Justification

Another wasteful Datukship and what contributions to the Malaysian society?

When the title used to be a honorific and given based on merits for their contribution to the country and people. But Malaysia has a dire situation of Datuk Here Datuk There!

Our only question was how is this justified?

If it was only based on number of box office hits and winning awards then how does that contribute to the well being and upgrading of Malaysian quality of life?

If it was to appease the Indian community, then again, the Melaka State Government got it wrong as there are many other issues at hand and is Ali Rustam looking upon Shah Rukh Khan to help in re-uniting the Indians?

Perhaps a Melaka Bollywood in the the pipeline? Or Melaka the "Hollywood" of Malaysia? IT's anybody's guess as to the justification as we cannot recall the beneficial contributions except that everytime a Shah Rukh Khan movie is being shown in the cinema, the audience is poorer by a few Ringgits whilst the actor's bank account gets better.

Would Jackie Chan, Chow Yuen Fatt or Steven Spielberg be in line for Datukship as well?

Botak and ISA bull shits

The "Botak" had now passed on the baton of "war" with Hindraf to his deputy after the much criticised handling of imposing ISA on 4 individuals with Raja Petra Kamaruddin (RPK) being the longest held.

With Teresa Kok's family being threatened, I wonder if the "Botak" would impose ISA on the whole family in similar fashion as to how they have safeguard the life of the chinese reporter who reported on the racial sensitive statement by a Penang UMNO goony whose economic wellbeing is being threatened as well.

Botak is a whole load of "bull shit"!

Let the UMNO "rat race" begins!

Just decided to come out of my shocking horror of the absurdity and disgust of some UMNO leader "wannabes" in my last September 25th posting!

Had everyone realise that the MSM had been equally silent over such "stupidity" since but rather focused on the decision by PM not defend the UMNO President position in this coming March '09 party elections and thus facilitates the transition of power to the present DPM. Would there be a turn around or twist in the run up to March '09? You bet!

Che Det says it was a good decision for UMNO with the "forced out" of party post while many thinks his "mission" is not over yet till the elections is over on the position of the party youth wing head.

The decision by PM was expected as more future DPM "wannabes" started declaring their interest in contesting for the "vacant" No. 2 position in the UMNO. Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib, Pulai MP Nur Jazlan Mohamad, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Mohd. Ali Rustam are all in the running for the much sought after glamourous position. And just like those pesky little rats, they start scuttling for support from the members to secure their challenge.

Clearly it is a race for economic gains for the individual and supporters instead of the good of the nation. So it comes back to the old situation of championing the particular race, economic well being of the community as well as the "glamour" with a further hope of seating in the PM seat should Najib retires, step down or possibly, in even more dramatic exit.

Would there be a surprise for 2 DPM positions with the other occupied by a non-Malay? If this happens, then it would definitely rattle the hardcore UMNO Malay mentality for championing their race whilst the other BN race-based component parties would see UMNO going back to their old ways.

It would be difficult to change a mindset of party followers in UMNO since the participation in the party had been traditionally been for economic gains which had been carried on till this day. It is not a question of old habits but rather the "rat race" within the party members pitting against one another to be at the pole position.

Can UMNO get rid of these dirty habits? Certainly not, what makes you so sure that they can change their habits when they have been leading a blissful life jet setting across the world, cruising around the streets in chauffer driven luxury cars, bungalows (in and out of the country), body adorned with branded goods, overseas holidays and shopping etc.

The present DPM (and his missus) is equally hounded by the various allegations and police reports lodged which nothing had been announced by the investigators. Ask WHY?

So Malaysians, brace for the same old darn situation (could be worse) as long as UMNO and BN are in the driving seat.

A much more likely or rather, ideal situation would be the takeover by Anwar Ibrahim before March party elections which would render the UMNO party elections as formality for their so called"re-formation".

Complaining about RM5.80 is arrogant says Muhammad Taib

Between a sensitivites and a fact!

Muhammad Taib keeps talking about sensivity of feelings when he had in fact affect the feelings of many Malaysians when he married (subsequently) divorced a Princess without the knowledge of her father and in the capacity as the leader of a State being "convicted" for not declaring the RM2million cash in Brisbane airport.

That was definitely much more sensitive to majority rather then a fact that RM5.80 for meals a day was unreasonable for detainees in police custody. All human beings should be treated as a living person and deserve the necessary food for their well being though they are not asking for chicken chop or KFC or nasi beriyani from Perth restaurant and etc. but just a decent meal.

Teresa was humble enough to accept the food but I doubt Muhammad Taib would eat the same given his extravagant ways as in Brisbane!

We have seen the UMNO elite rich like Muhammad Taib driving Mercs, living in bungalows, travel in business class and etc. but the poor in the villages or estates remain as they are. Does complaining about the meagre RM5.80 meal means arrogant that affects the feelings of the poor?

Even the poor of all races are asking as to what the BN/UMNO Government have done for 50 years when many are still in the same predicament as pre Independence economic status. Eradicating poverty had been the agenda of the Government since independence but till today we are still eradicating and does it need another 50 years to eradicate???

Is Muhammad Taib saying that the poor should remain poor and don't complain when complaining is equivalent to arrogance in his vocabulary!

Better to hear about giant melons and MyFuture rather then BN/UMNO politics

Frankly, I hardly buy or read newspapers today given the local political issues hogging the limelight daily never seem to end where stories like giant melon puts farmer and wife in limelight are even much more refreshing to the minds.

Other interesting developments is on South Africa's Mbeki agrees to party call to resign ends his nine year reign as President succeeding Nelson Mandela amidst corruption allegations. Do we smell some similarity here in Malaysia?

On the local front, Pak Lah not pushed to step down, says Umno information chief despite earlier reports on Pak Lah under pressure to exit. One thing for sure is that even the UMNO Supreme Council is in cahoots and splitin the middle.

And a bare it all by Information Minister that Government radio station Radio24 used to spread ruling party propaganda instead of benefitting the country as a whole! Why does the rakyat (people) want to pay taxes to listen to Government propaganda 24 hours?

He goes on blaring "As a government radio station, it should not be misused by anyone, including to disseminate matters negative to society and contrary to government policies," and then "If you do not agree with government policies, don't be a government employee. Resign."

Malaysians can expect at least "MyFuture" to repair the racial ties in this peace loving country. While that program may be more suitable to the BN/UMNO leaders primarily, majority Malaysians irregardless of race, religion and culture on the ground remain united as one while the leaders of UMNO play racial politics to remain in power. Read Zaid’s simple recipe to reforms for a short dose of UMNO power play.

Between ISA, takeover, swap and the "dreams"

Malaysians and people around the world are apalled over the ISA arrest and Che Det says no justification in arresting bloggers! Meanwhile, Semi Value had woken up to comment "Arrest anyone who raises racial issues!"

With Anwar in a rush to call for a Parliamentary emergency session to have a no-confidence vote on PM rejected ouright, it would only be wise for the Abdullah Badawi to pick up the challenge and "bury" Anwar once for all.

Should Badawi carry on denying the accusations thrown at him as well as avoiding such calls, it will only lead to more Malaysians believing that Anwar was right. Badawi as a PM should have the confidence to look up and this presents him a great opportunity to end Pakatan Rakyat's challenge besides proving to rakyat that Anwar was all lies.

Meanwhile the botak (baldy) speaks again saying ‘Don’t speculate on Anwar and ISA’ but would suggest that he looks into the origin of this speculation. Who ISA be invoke on the individuals who starts the speculation to be fair?

The people's view of Badawi as at to-date has always been a weak leader, coward and corrupt while using the ISA to "closed-up" the wrong doings and the perception of the rakyat will continue of this sentiment till Badawi gets into Parliament for the no confidence vote.

Swapping portfolios does not absolve the issues today but swapping positions would definitely help in ending the attacks to a certain extent though Najib would also start facing his long standing accusations of involvement in the many military deals and Mongolian Altantuya Shaaribu brutal murder.

Judging from Najib's body language and facial expression during the press conference with Badawi, he has the uneasy feeling and started questioning the logic behind Badawi's swap. The other BN "Yes Man(s)" say aye aye to the swapping. He knows for certain that it was a wrong move but Najib's wife is now dreaming of becoming the "First Lady".

It remains to be seen if the PM's son-in-law ambitions of being the youngest PM in 2 years time remains a distant dream or reality. If Badawi continues this trend then it can be non existence.

Common Badawi, pick up the courage (grab your balls as well) to face the no confidence vote in Parliament!

Bury Anwar and Pakatan Rakyat once for all (if not, you always remained a coward in the eyes of the rakyat)!

Another BN "Project" Embarrasment

2008/09/17

LAOS SEA GAMES: Malaysia left out of contributors' list

Zulhilmi Supaat, BERNAMA

KUALA LUMPUR, Wed:
While most of the Asean countries are helping Laos, the 2009 Sea Games host, in cash or kind for the 25th edition of the Games, Malaysia has been left out of the contributors list.

The reason — lack of a proper mechanism on who should initiate the effort to help Laos.

“On Malaysia’s part, who should take the initiative to help Laos? The Youth and Sports Ministry, the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) or Kok Chi?” OCM honorary secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi said when contacted by Bernama here today.

He was asked to comment on whether the Laos National Sports Committee (LNSC) had sought help from the OCM for the Games preparation.

A check by Bernama on several Laos Sea Games websites found that most of the Asean countries are contributing to the cash-strapped Laos which will host the bienniel event in Vientiane, on Dec 13-21 next year.

Another BN Malaysian Government classic screw up administration and embarassment to the world!

The Minister of Sports then should be held responsible for this mess and should step down immediately. So which Minister of Sports which caused the country's image getting screwed?

Present Youth and Sports Minister is Dato' Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob while the previous was the tomboyish and pants favored, Dato' Sri Azalina Othman. So who should be held accountable here if judging from this statement below?

OCM honorary secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi said the Laotian Sports Ministry had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Ministry early last year on cooperation for the Games but since then, there had been no follow-up.

If we were to look at last year then it would be Azalina and perhaps she was involved very much in the aborted 2008 MYR17million Champions Youth Cup (CYC) or there were no proper handover after the March 8, 2008 General Elections.

It would be interesting to note as to why even the present Minister had not acted on this assuming the MOU had clearly stated the level of cooperation. Was this an oversight? Or the UMNO Minister was heavily engrossed with the March 8 aftermath followed by the internal party fighting and onslaught by the Opposition to takeover the Federal Government by Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Whatever it is, Abdullah Badawi's cabinet had yet again failed to deliver and upkeep the image of the country in the eyes of the world!

He being the leader during this period should accept responsibility of this debacle and resign like Zaid Ibrahim did which was highly respectable by Malaysians.

Sept 16 - The Bomb That Never Exploded

Sept 16 - The Bomb That Never Exploded

By S. Retnanathan

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 (Bernama) -- Soon after the general election on March 8 this year, the date Sept 16 began to top conversations, be it at coffeeshops or lobbies of five-star hotels.

Every opportunity that the man-on-the-street found to strike a conversation with someone from a political party, even if that someone was just an ordinary member, the date almost always came to the fore.

Sept 16 was the date most referred to by the media in the last six months, so much so that even those who were oblivious to Malaysian politics, or politics as a whole, latched on to it as if it was some feel-good medication.

The date became a focal point after Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim dropped a bombshell less than a month after the general election, claiming he had enough Barisan Nasional (BN) members of parliament (MPs) wanting to cross over to the loosely formed pact of PAS, DAP and PKR dubbed Pakatan Rakyat (PR), by that date.

Read the story here. What if the bomb explodes after September 16?

Syed Hamid: All is calm despite rumours

The Star Tuesday September 16, 2008 MYT 11:29:12 PM
Syed Hamid: All is calm despite rumours
By LOURDES CHARLES

KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar assured members of the public that the situation in the country was calm and no untoward incidents took place as were rumoured.

“There was no change in Federal Government as rumoured or anticipated by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Untoward incidents? Shocking!

I live in Kuala Lumpur and am in shock that untoward incidents rumour had been circulating as reported above as it was my first time hearing it. Malaysians at large are aware of the ANwar Ibrahim Sepetember 16 but not untoward incidents.

Syed Hamid should reveal more of the rumours and take immediate action on the rumour mongers instead of making statements in the press. If the rumour starts from this press statement from Syed Hamid, then the police should investigate Syed Hamid on the source and charge accordingly for creating uneasiness or perhaps use ISA on these people.

We expect Syed Hamid to reveal more and actions taken of such rumours which is alarming when KLites were moving around doing their daily chores as usual and here Syed Hamid comes up with a rumour of untoward incident.

IT'S FINAL: Zaid Quits

2008/09/16 (NST)
IT'S FINAL: Zaid Quits

PUTRAJAYA, TUES:

MINISTER in the Prime Minister's department, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has made up his mind on quitting. "I'm not tired, just disappointed," he told reporters at a press conference this morning at Putrajaya.

"I'm sorry."
