In whose interest/agenda should the person appointed to head a Government position be?

First, it was former Gerakan (a BN component party) Secretary-General, Mr Lee Kah Choon who made a drastic decision to resign and take up posts in InvestPenang and Penang Development Corporation (PDC) amidst show-cause letter from his former party which ended up irrelevant.

The second was to follow and here, Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong, Federal Territory Gerakan Chief had taken up position as co-chairman of Selangor's special task force on land issues. He was also issued show cause letter and a likely resignation letter would come from him to save everyone's precious time.

As to why some posts in the state committees are offered to UMNO Assemblymen is explained here.

The latest call was by Tourism Minister Datuk Azalina Othman and Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir to resign as Sepang International Circuit (SIC) Chairman here. In whose interest/agenda should the person appointed to head SIC be? UMNO, Malaysian Government or fulfil some other political agendas?

It looks like UMNO politics do mix with Government decisions in Malaysia! How could Malaysia prosper when party politics are not totally detached from matters concerning the administration of the country.

This is where the BN Government namely UMNO had got their priorities wrong in naming the right candidate to manage the Government bodies or GLC e,g, Proton. The mandate given by the prople of Malaysia to the Government was for good governance, accountability and responsibility of the mandate given to ensure the country sustained development, economic growth and Malaysians stay united.

BN priority was very obvious to safeguard the party and interest of certain individuals. This raised questions of transparency in the Government which is totally unacceptable to the people of Malaysia which in the present political scenario and did not go down well with Malaysians as reflected in the 12th GE results. It further adds the question of credibility of candidate(s) appointed by the Government as to whether he/she is just a proxy or another "order taker" living on a (public funded) "fat" salary.

What the opposition held State Governments had done to offer capable and trustworthy past/present BN component party leaders positions in the State Government is highly commendable. The individuals whom took-up the offers had only the Malaysian people interest in mind. It left to wonder as to how long will BN led Government maintain such "mediocre" state of mind instead of appointing non-political affiliated individuals to lead the GLCs where such companies are tainted with incapable and corrupted leadership.

It left to wonder as to why Malaysia had not actually progress much compared to the tiny red dot south of Peninsular Malaysia either. Such facts and leadership quality stinks right to the core, which is visible to the world to decide the capability of Malaysia ruling leaders mentality.

With UMNO leaders being kept busy till party elections in December 2008, we can expect the country to be administered in such manner of nearly a non-existence Ministers. Oh, why had some Malaysians voted these incapable leaders to lead the country!

We are calm

Still on that island thingy!

Malaysian PM calls for calm after court ruling on island here! He has to realise that Malaysians are generally calm people but only the leaders are getting onto their nerves a little. ;-)

This goony does not understand or realise that the rakyat of Malaysia is not at all upset with Singapore but more of the Government of Malaysia for their inadequacy and not taking prompt actions to reclaim the sovereignity of the island which they had allowed Singapore authorities to inhibit the island via a lighthouse for 130 years!

Again this leader showed distinct of unawareness of the feelings of the people of Malaysia! Is he sleeping or simply ignorant but claims to be aware of situation when it's all history.

Looks like his weak leadership is getting onto the nerves of the Sultans of each state as each day goes by ..... and could soon be Sultan of Johor.

PKR begins Harvest Festival!

Pakatan Rakyat through Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) had begun their "HARVEST FESTIVAL" even before the official Hari Gawai (Harvest Festival) which falls at the end of May.

Get ready for the days of exhillirating fun, excitement and memorable days of our lives.

Pulau Pisang Sovereignity To Singapore Next

Weak arguments were the cause of losing sovereignity of Pulau Batu Puteh according to Rais Yatim.

And now Pulau Pisang looks to be another similar case as highlighted here. Should this island be referred to the ICJ and based on the facts to the decision on awarding Pulau Batu Puteh, Malaysia seem destined to lose another to their neighbours as the lighthouse is operated by Singapore although island is in Malaysian territory. All this while Malaysian Government had been snoozing without realising such!

Very soon Singaporeans will own most southern parts of Peninsular Malaysia as they have already started purchasing properties especially with IDR opening up nicely for them.

Professor S Jayakumar says Pulau Pisang's sovereignity will never be contested by Singapore in Parliament here but why MAritime Port Authority of Singapore is operating it?

Fish(y) surrounding ICJ decision on Pulau Batu Puteh

UPDATE May 24 Bernama 00:04

Rais says this after earlier feeling confident of winning on May 15 and changed to feeling a little nervy about the ultimate decision on May 23.

UPDATE The Star 6:14pm

Our initial fears became a reality! Singapore Gets Pulau Batu Puteh i.e. Singapore gets the island and Malaysia gets the Middle Rocks (which is only two clusters of rocks) which Rais Yatim describes as a win-win situation.

You can view what Malaysia won from here and start imagine the winning feel!

Why had Malaysia lost the case? Because we allow Singapore to operate the Horsburg Lighthouse on the island for 130 years without any protest from Malaysia! Read it here.

Just remember, that the Malaysian representatives had done their "best" as well as submitted all evidence they had but still not successful.

- my earlier posting this morning -

Be Calm And Mature In Accepting ICJ Decision, Says Rais. This is a different tone from his earlier statement on May 15, 2008 that Verdict Of Pulau Batu Puteh will be in our favor found here.

There were calls for calm and maturity in accepting the decision by ICJ from our leaders for the past few days which gave an impression that the Malaysian Government already knew the decision by ICJ.

Perhaps the daily calls in media were to soften the impact on the Government leadership capabilities (already low) but let's wait later today for the decision.

MCA and Snoop Squad

MCA's Snoop Squad inquiry reveals existence as admitted by Datuk Lim Choon Kin to the three member committee formed to investigate the squad.

More shocking is the abuse of power and Government property with the relevation of - Choon Kim also claimed that in their meetings, Tee told him that the squad operated from the 16th floor of the Youth and Sports Ministry building in Putrajaya. Can this be a case for a police report be made and ACA to initiate investigations against the Ministry and Government for corruption?

This is the extent of politics in MCA (which forms an integral part of the ruling coalition of Barisan Nasional) that the members are willing to go on political assasination between their own members when they should be working together in party's interest.

UMNO rambles, MCA trembles and MIC crumbles?

360 degrees UMNO Membership and Leaders

One ran away with a royalty's daughter and later married without the consent of the Sultan was also arrested in Australia not declaring MYR2.4million on the context that he does not understand English Language. In 2008, he made the comeback as UMNO Information Chief and Rural and Regional Development Minister.

The other was reported impregnating an underaged girl in Melaka but someone else got jailed! Went into hibernation and now intend on making a come back as VP of UMNO and perhaps a Minister/Chief Minister position later on.

Another ex-Minister (but still an elected UMNO MP) molested a promoter in a 5 star hotel of which police investigations carried out from the report lodged by the lady only for the lady to claim it was a mistake few days later. This story had now gone quiet and hopefully swept under the carpet to declare case closed.

Then there was a present UMNO Menteri Besar from an East Coast state who showed vulgarity hand language in public and later taught his "Napoleons" about apple polishing to stay in position!

Before that, many in 1988 many UMNO members left and when the party was declared an "unlawful society" following the suit by the famous "UMNO 11" which eventually led to the formation of "Semangat 46" (Spirit of 1946) by Tengku Razaleigh whom eventually got back into UMNO (Baru).

The previous and present PMs both at a point of time had left UMNO before making a return and subsequently held the position of Prime Minister.

There seem to be a trend in UMNO on shaking trends and all forgotten. When they return, they secure higher positions from where they had left off and seems to carry on till today with this fella!

Like a person bankrupt of ideas and lost of direction, UMNO politicians only talked about;
(a) apple polishing,
(b) lack of contracts they can secure (now seem a little tougher),
(c) upcoming party elections,
(d) lodging police reports against almost anything the opposition leaders said starting with this
"lost soul",
(e) calling someone else names like "Beruk"(ape), "Monyet" (monkey), "political prostitute" and
etc.

Worst of all, the appointed Ministers from the band of UMNO politicians does not seem to carry out their Ministerial duties but more pre-occupied with party in-fighting. They had wished to support a Team in the party but worried about their position after the party elections.

So what sort of party is UMNO??? High moral and integrity? Do they have a direction? You can just walk in and walk out ...........

Of Sexy School Uniform and 360 degrees turnaround

"School Uniform Sexy", says National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia vice-president Munirah Bahari.

You are a product of your own thoughts and actions. Sexy is what you perceived whilst it may not be sexy to other individuals. Tell everyone your personal preference/characteristics and thoughts which gave rise to your statement, as there must be a reason behind every action. An individual could have tried being sexy in school uniform or fantasize about being sexy in school uniform.

It's more of a case of maturity in thoughts and responsibility of actions. A person guided by principles of religion, mental strength and will power will not easily give rise to such thoughts. It's such a shame and waste of time to think of such, when more productive thoughts could have gone into how to improve students welfare and study conditions etc. I guess, she has to justify her position as VP and be relevant in that Association which I am hearing it for the first time.

The school uniform had been there for years and worn by millions of female school students including non-Malays. So what does Munirah actually wants from here and she has to be responsible for such statement?

Why not comment on pressing issues like this?

Grow up Munirah!

And "what goes around comes around" as this fella gets "dizzy" and hit 360 degrees to go back to UMNO. It is an UMNO tradition for members to quit the party and only to rejoin. So this fella's turnaround is nothing new when there is some "working arrangements" undisclosed. He went monitoring and reporting about the present Government corrupt acts through GERAK and finally joining the band of corrupts. What a man!

Malaysia Political Drama

Che Det announces quiting of UMNO (Baru) and his close ally follow suit! The resignation fire was ignited by this person.

Few days ago, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin, 12th Parliament Dewan Speaker resigned from UMNO to remain impartial in Parliament seatings.

Anymore to follow to sufficiently derailed Abdulah's re-invention of UMNO after the 12th GE catastrophe? 300 Merbok branch members en-massed did and just watch for more .....

Last week, after being hit by the calls from political leaders of Sabah and Sarawak for more gentle care in handling East Malaysian states by the Federal Government, the "rumours" of defection to opposition camp now looks real. Will they do it in Parliament today (May 20, 2008)during the motion by DAP Leader Lim Kit Siang on longstanding Sabah illegal immigrant problem or later?

Implications of Che Det's resignation (his wife too) on UMNO goes both ways but many present UMNO members will share Musa Hitam's views that it was a "blessing" while Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claims Che Det is throwing a "big stone" on UMNO's glasshouse.

Ku Li feels the message Che Det wants to send to UMNO members which recently celebrated 21 years (not the 62 years of original UMNO) is to refrain from "ampu bodek" (apple polishing) but he will stay on in UMNO to fight Abdullah.

Whatever happens, everyone is watching if more "stones" would be thrown onto the broken UMNO glasshouse and further disintegrate Abdullah's plans (if he has any) to re-unite the party which has now gone into Category 3/4 typhoon. Meanwhile, Shahrir Samad warns of another general election here. Could this end up in another inedible ink controversy and further waste of public funds by this "flip-flop" Abdullah administration?

The Malaysian political scene pre and post election is now a "drama" worth watching and it just gets more exciting as September 16 approaches....

Playing God!

All religion are similar in main principles and none teach a follower to be bad. The teachings had been passed down through the messengers over the years whom ultimately passed on the message. Don't blame or quote God for any untoward incident or agony, but one had only themselve to blame. God had given all physical living things in this world sufficient survival tools to survive on the world they are placed and it's the mankind development which had altered the settings of what the God believed was the right balance.

As the years go by, there are many individuals who claims to be "messenger" of God and had started deviationist teachings worldwide. Through the collections of donation during the sermons, funds were collected and placed in banks, investments and for business startups.

So in this instance, who really owns the business entity and funds? The "messenger" or "priest" or "imam"? These individuals then starts their own interpretation of the orginal teachings which ultimately are totally dismantle the original principles of a religion.

Along with these deviationist group, comes this opportunist individuals or group of people whom seem interested to play God and determine the fate of a person. They start placing laws, rulings and conditions on individuals when in actual fact there was nothing said about such in the teachings of God. Who are these intellectual but dumb individuals who once again tries to alter the beautiful religion?

It defies all logic as to why there are individuals driven physchologically to uphold such laws against an individual's freedom to practice and space to live in this temporary world we all live in. While God had created us to live in a world full of happiness and fulfilment, it is sad to note there are still people who goes beyond the limits to create further confusion which finally ends in court of law.

The extent they are willing to embark to spread and enforce "their believe" is certainly a futile attempt in upholding human rights. It's a total waste of time!!!

Why create a problem when there's none in the first place? God Is Universal.

Of Bigger Beruks & Now Bigger Political Prostitute!

I've said it before about Bigger Beruks here! But now UMNO has a bigger "political prostitute" as reported here while Malaysia's "First Lady" wannabe is being jabbed here.

It runs in the BN family (especially UMNO) and it's proven right from the top which they blatantly did it in Parliament here today! Chances are the people whom have chosen these representatives had got it all wrong while Dewan Speaker retires from UMNO Head today as reported here (wonder why Bernama only reported this piece of news at 10:03pm while The Star Online had it as early as 6:56pm)

And they now want to teach moral and character here!

Ultimately, it will be a futile effort if the the "chief" is not taught moral and character. One wonders if these UMNO (Baru) fellas are actually able to be taught.

BN Ideology is Irrelevant For Malaysia Now

Gerakan VP: Guan Eng naive, ignorant or playing politics ..... is this a question or a statement?

My opinion is some Gerakan die-hards are still fighting hard for some reasons although the Gerakan President had said that the party is being treated like "beggars" (or buggers) by Barisan and more specifically the arrogant UMNO.

Dr Teng's "question" was actually to prompt LGE into declaration of his intentions but the latter is slowly proving to be perhaps the best Chief Minister Penang could get for many years.

BN (with UMNO much more) have to understand that the people prefer representatives who deliver results and fight for the people without fear or favor including having personal gains. When personal gains are being place ahead of other matters, this is where BN gets corrupted to the core and they start being arrogant and calling themselves THE NEW EMPEROR at least till the recently concluded 12th GE. The New Emperor was not to be but merely The New Eunuch who is now forced to listen instead of the egoistic ways of speech and action.

The same for why LGE had gone for people, who were once with BN but have the real desire to serve the people to work for the present Penang State Government. This is what a truly transparent Government should be instead of the BN ways of placing cronies in strategic positions to facilitate their motives aplenty.

It will be a challenge for BN Government to switch into this mode as the dirt is everywhere and it takes time to clean. On the other hand, it would perhaps a situation where a 50 year old BN mindset which is the difficult to change or the 60+ year old PM needs to go for Malaysia to be more vibrant and relevant facing the challenges of this present world.

Grow up BN! Face the new challenges of the modern world (but UMNO especially always got it wrong ... even the present UMNO Baru anniversary celebrations as stated here)

UMNO Character and Moral Building A Must?

May 11, 2008 17:03 PM Bernama reported Higher Education Ministry deputy minister Datuk Idris Haron said they will continue its character-building programmes for undergraduates to enhance their character and moral.

What about characters like this, this, this, this and this?

Goodbye to Melaka Klebang Beach!

When I was a kid staying in Melaka, I used to cycle on some evenings to the Limbongan - Klebang Beach to enjoy the sea breeze and enjoy the scenery as the sun sets in. Along the sea walls are older folks seating and enjoying the setting while some are plainly focused on doing their tai chi.

It also becomes a mini fish market in the evenings where the fisherman sells their harvest from the sea and I always look forward to "gerago" (mini shrimps) which when mix with flour and fried becomes such a delicacy.

Fast forward to today, there is no more sea front but more of concrete frontage of shop offices which had strategically changed the map of the beachfront Malaccans used to enjoy. Sea reclaimation works had been on-going and at feverish pace with the people of Melaka in the dark as to what had been approved as they had no inkling on what was going on.

A resident commented, " We can soon walk to Pulau Upeh." This island is not short of history too!

Pulau Upeh is a hatching nursery for Hawksbill Turtles like Puteri Pulau Upeh. Will these butchering of the sea damage the environment of the Hawksbill Turtles breeding ground or have ecological studies been conducted prior to the sea reclaimation? The State Government does not care as even the resort built by the State Government on Pulau Upeh had been left to ruins and the laterite boulders ont he island are being cut and used for re-construction of the Middlesburg Bastion.

The many beach front bungalows along the beach are now about 5-10km from the sea front facing Straits of Malacca and indirectly lowering the property value. The value aside but the bungalows are owned by who's who in Melaka then whilst the present who's who lives in Ayer Keroh.

There are many resorts along the beach and all faced with near possibility that they could not call themselves beach resort anymore. More noticeably is the mammoth Marine Themepark by a Taiwanese investor which would be severely affected by the plans to reclaim the beach fronts without providing notices to the owners. Such an arrogant project it is!

Was made to understand that the property and resort owners had exhausted all avenue with numerous letters to PM, DPM, Tourism Ministry, State Government, Chief Minister and all but no replies received. All they see nowadays are people conducting land surveys along the beachfront.

100 Posting Landmark

I had my 100 blog posting last Friday May 2 with Waste of Public Funds!

In my 101 posting, still on wasting public funds by having leaders whose actions are politically motivated instead of serving the people and nation. I don't believe that Abdullah had shed his "Imam Hadhari" preaching to a low by calling for more police reports be made against Karpal Singh besides publicly pressuring AG to press charges. But what about this and isn't it in the same context which is also seditious?

Wasted public funds in having leaders whom are now focused on "character assasination" and serving their selfish ownself. The rakyat in majority did not say anything but UMNO (and cronies) is crying loud and can this be called representing rakyat???

It would be definitely double standards should the AG and police immediately act upon the reports and Abdullah's desperate calls. To who does the AG and Polis Di Raja Malaysia serve and be responsible to? Or they remained as a UMNO Government political tool?

How about police reports made such as this and this? Rakyat has the right to know the outcome of the police reports and actions but nothing heard so far or all swept under the carpet.

It is a certain black mark on Abdullah's 2nd term start as PM with the charges against RPK and Karpal. It marks the "Strike Back of The Empire"? This Government has certainly turned Malaysia into a racial and politically motivated environment for all his actions which is not what "rakyat jelata" wants!

With the Malaysia Government still in 12th GE hangover mode which is going lower in economic and infrastructure development, other countries like Vietnam, Indonesia and even Cambodia are in pole position and racing forward. Malaysians at large certainly would advise Abdullah to step down or else buck-up, don't waste time and public funds. But focus on leading Malaysia out of the backwaters as the only way of regaining respect and support.

In the spirit of Malaysia Boleh (everything possible)!

Such a waste of public funds (or rather abuse)!

"The Prime Minister later left for Mecca yesterday evening to perform his umrah." as reported in The Star 2 May 2008.

This was immediately after attending 4th World Islamic Economic Forum in Kuwait on Government duties and funds. Isn't this a form of abuse? Or is this part of the package as PM of Malaysia?

We all would be wrong if the PM had flown into Kuwait and/or Mecca on commercial flights. It would be a blatant waste of public funds had Government private jets own being used for the purpose of performing umrah to add to the RM790K ONLY used during Feb 24 to March 7. This is more shameful then the Parliament "too much" event.

Change your lifestyle lah and start learning to draw a line between Government funds and personal. We rakyat need a better living environment in Malaysia instead of Barang Naik or No Barang!

Does the ruling coalition have depth in their representatives and Ministers to lead Malaysia?

Looking at the elected representatives from UMNO in Parliament, other then few Ministers in the Cabinet lineup, it is obvious that the ruling coalition had no depth in terms of quality and professionals. Many of UMNO candidates are former teachers, imams, businessmen or grew within the party set-up.

Without the rationale mindset as a professional and people's representative, this is what can be seen in the Parliament and the issues surrounding the nepotism and croynism overclouding the party. This disease within the party spreads real quick and simply no cure could be found. The equation in UMNO today would always be of power equal economic corruption.

To retain the power control, harping on racial sentiments became the principle of party with "Ketuanan Melayu" and in an effort to swing the support from the religious groups, Islam Hadhari was coined.

In the euphoria and excitement, unwarranted remarks were uttered in the UMNO General Assembly as well as regularly in the press, Parliament, electronic media which many have a racial based theme within. Government policies and conditions which have an air of party based instead of benefitting rakyat which did more damage and did not lend much help in developing the nation. The other "minor" component parties i.e. MCA, MIC, Gerakan were marginalised and the spirit of togetherness since its inception as a coalition became a history.

Till the 12th GE recently, many old guards and good potential candidates for Minister lost which further crippled the ruling coalitions ability to appoint Ministers whom are trustworthy and with high integrity. Any visitors to Parliamentary sitting can't help feeling amused by the antics of Ministers and elected leaders who argue because they must tow the line of the party leadership instead of what action to execute that would be in the best of the nation!

The question today, many of the elected representatives from UMNO and Ministers are also pre-occupied with scandals which further send the integrity index plumetting down. With an ex-Minister and elected hit the headlines with sexual assault recently and an UMNO MPs calling an opposition MP "Beruk" is the unlikely start for the ruling coalition already affected badly with internal rift with UMNO in particular.

Malaysia needs more Ministers and leaders with high integrity and able to lead the country back into the spotlight with the last 4 years being a disaster akin to a train in motion and abruptly stopped in emergency. Eventhough the ruling coalition had some brilliant Oxford trained leaders but they just could not distant themselves from controversies and money politics.

So with such situation, would Malaysia really able to progress pre 2004? It is for us Malaysians to see and pass our verdict in the 13th GE.
