Come on lah, RMP traffic police! Be consistent for all....

I had a recent encounter with a Sargeant ranked traffic police officer named Haizad recently and he was polite in issuing summons for a traffic offence for beating red lights. It was green when we passed the lights but he had claimed it was red and challenged to view the cameras in balai. (police station)

Just to cut the story short, he requested driving license and NRIC before issuing summons without talking further. Sign sini and terima kasih! (your singnature here and thank you)

Even with his sunglasses on, I recognised him as a resident of the Kelompok flats in Keramat adjacent to Taman Keramat and Setiawangsa which are highly populated with police and military personnel.

Sargeant Haizad's action is commendable for issuing traffic offences eventhough he was heading home (not too sure if he was off duty) for various offences in his kawasan (area). This, he had been equally efficient and consistent (he claims to be doing this everytime he goes home).

BUT what irks me most are the number of motorcyclists (some with pillion) riding around the area without helmets and I would personally belief some are too young for even a "P" license. Aren't these group of "brave young" riders dangering the lives of other road users if they don't treasure theirs?

They come out in droves in the evenings patrolling the residential area. Some riding alongside their girfriends and weaving through cars at a speed. Even the school going students are riding aimlessly without helmets and shouting their heads off at times which is simply disturbing to the residents.

There were many close calls and accidents especially at the Sri Ayu flats traffic lights junction and I wonder if Sargeant Haizad would bring his team there for an Operasi on these motorcyclists. I doubt the police would do that as chances of detaining childlen of the servicemen would be high and placed them in a tight situation.

This Setiawangsa area is also home to FT Minister, Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique, the Army Chief and many more VIPs! It's not about the few VIP individuals but the road safety of the other thousands of motorist using the roads in that area and keeping Malaysia a civilized society of road users in equal terms as how Sargeant Haizad patrols other traffic offenders in his city kampung in earnest.

Come on lah, RMP traffic police! Be consistent in application and not target us the civilians only!
