Ruling party leaders had tried very hard to convince the Sultans of Perlis and Terengganu on their candidates for Menteri Besar without success.
Their inability to put their candidates forward was due to the simple word "convince". 4 years track record of achievements and performance is sufficient evidence of a person's capability. And convincing someone into agreeing with you is in actuality challenging the person's belief system and this was the same strategy used on rakayat during the recent election which they failed miserably.
Belief is the psychological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise to be true.
If you try to convince, firstly it will be a futile attempt if people doesn't trust you anymore and secondly, it requires a herculean effort to get someone to change his belief system. And finally, declare the support of appointment here and here!
The only way is to deliver the services and promises i.e. walk the talk and don't just go like "tin kosong". Opposition parties have started delivering their promises but we have yet to see the ruling party delivering with the exception of some statements being made which we read in the Government controlled media.
Don't be surprised, UMNO will start investing on personal development, PR skills and spiritual development for all their leaders in an attempt to "cleanse" themselves thoroughly in the process they called "re-juvenation". Will this work?

Clean Up Time
UPDATE March 27, 2008 07:30pm
The days to decide the future of UMNO is on Dec 16-20, 2008.
Sufficient time not to be afraid by then. Could the day of reckoning be earlier than the December date or it will be insignificant then?
UPDATE March 27, 2008 12:00pm
UMNO Management Committee says "democratic party elections is on this year and nothing to be afraid" here.
Only those whom have not delivered and out of favour would have to be afraid!
Posted earlier on March 25, 2008
The younger brothers rationalised and understood the need to get to the crux of the problem soonest possible while the other realised arrogance was a problem. The "tai kor" decides they could wait longer.
Bigger load "laundry" would take a much bigger effort to wash. Could do with some high grade detergents but it has to start now.

Ministry of Education cultivating time wasting?
"Not compulsory for teachers to attend state functions" said Penang branch National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP), Lim Ming Tzong @ Adam Alim Abdullah.
Judging from such statement, we can understand how pressured and time constraints for the teachers to attend functions or disciplinary actions would be taken. Why had the Minister of Education not looked into such matter unless the directive was from him.
No wonder the State Education and Ministry was damn bloody slow in issuing a simple letter like this and services like this! What are you doing in your position Keris-muddin????
The "Captain" already admitted that they were slow in reforms and now his team player resort to time wasting to confirm why slow reforms (lembab)!! More revelation to come soon ........
Syabas Barisan Rakyat!

It's all about the dum dum du du du dum
With all the furore and decisions made for the position of the Terengganu MB, there are lots of speculation as to why it was fought with more fervour then the Perlis MB position by UMNO. And many thoughts on the reason by UMNO was more related to $$.
UMNO may end up singing to this tune and could be very much there. Happy singing! (Kak Rosmah may be able to help here.)
UMNO chief then admitted to the slow reforms by the Government he lead, which caused them the election and here it is being repeated by delaying reforms within the party. When will they ever learn? Dare to dream big but not taking the first step forward for "re-juvenate" .........
Another repeat of NATO? ...... No Action Talk Only

Turun Padang
How powerful and truthful rumours can be!
Heard along the grapevine, the people's representatives of a state up north irregardless of the position the person is holding in the State Government, they are meeting and listening to the rakyat in kopitiam and fastfood outlets instead of the official office with prior appointments.
Even with appointments then, the rakyat could only managed to meet the representative's assistant depending on availability instead of making a point to listen first hand.

And there is a particular person who had just woke up from a 4 years blissful honeymoon in power and realised "we lost the cyberwar!"
Way to go Barisan Rakyat leaders!

Why Is KL Missing Out On Aussie Tourists?
Why Is KL Missing Out On Aussie Tourists? - Bernama March 23, 2008
Tony Fernandes went on to quote "I think Malaysia Airlines has done a very poor job in marketing," he is quoted in The Australian Financial Review as saying."
Does he meant that the current "official airline" of his can do a better job and that, the Tourism Malaysia is not to be blamed for the poor marketing of Malaysia? Get real Tony!!!
It's just a matter of time before people starts comparing Jetstar, Tiger Airways and Cebu Pacific for better deals.
Overall, VMY2007 wasn't successful if you had asked all hotels in Malaysia and the foreign inflow numbers from Singapore attributed to almost 50% of the tourist arrivals for day trips mostly. Don't solely blame MAS just because they are rivals to your airline with high profile backing but Malaysia is not listed in the 2008 destinations list at all!
A more pressing and relevant issue is being asked here!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p/s. Will all Australians who read this blog state your reason why you are giving Malaysia a miss? Is it because of MAS?

Message to Street Protesters in Penang
The street protesters seemed political, of late in Penang were illegal i.e. no permit from the police and yet they carried on with the protest minus the tear gas and water cannons. They seem to disregard the earlier calls on consequences of such street protest or illegal demonstrations from the nation's PM and umbrella body called Damai Malaysia claiming to represent the "silent majority" of 395 non-governmental organisations representing nearly 1.5 million members as reported - wanna make me laugh.
Isn't this street protest against wishes of the leadership and the rakyat?
So can the Damai Malaysia Chairman step up and repeat what had been said here? By the way, is this grouping still in exists?
“Enough is enough” was the catchphrase of participants in the forum, who were worried about the impact street protests would have on the country’s economy. (reproduced from the Damai Malaysia forum, NST 17 Dec 2007)
Damai Malaysia and PM, repeat calls now please ........ it's timely!

Nasi Sudah Menjadi Bubur
When a pebble is thrown and strikes your head, you said it's just one off.
When a stone hits your head, you still say it's just unlucky!
When a boulder comes crashing down on you, you cried "Political Tsunami Of GE A Lesson", Says Muhyiddin (reported Bernama, 16th March 2008). What a Malay proverb says "Nasi Sudah Menjadi Bubur (lah)"! All the rakyat can say is, it's a harsh lesson which you BN (UMNO especially) fellas learnt too late. Perhaps the teachers and advisers in Putrajaya of whatever principles being preached are lacking in knowledge and experience (could be sleeping on the job as well).
Isn't it a norm in corporate world, that when you get caught sleeping on your job, after few show cause letters is followed up by resignation or termination? Judging from the results of the 12th GE, that's the rakyat show cause letter for an immediate action.
But what I believe much more is the arrogance and racist mindset of UMNO when Malaysians today are determined to live peacefully under a common roof to succeed together as a nation with disregard to race and religion.
I would advise BN leaders stay that way, to ensure a slow and surely diminishing act from the Malaysian history books! (provided the states ruled by opposition are managed well)

Week after 12th General Election .......
Malaysian political scene on March 8 went into uncharted territories and brought rise a new dimension to the country leadership and governance. With Barisan Nasional (BN) suffering a beating, a "re-invention" of the coalition and Ministries is poised to take place while it remains anybody's guess till to-date;
Interesting events had taken place thus far as at March 14, 2008;
(a) the call for PM's resignation by UMNO members including Mukhriz Mahathir's purported
letter,
(b) major component party Presidents decline to accept Ministerial positions,
(c) the postponement and still undecided Menteri Besar for Terengganu,
(d) the appointment of Md Isa Sabu as Perlis Menteri Besar instead of Shahidan Kassim,
candidate recommended by PM,
(e) the emergence of banners around KL city calling for PM's resignation,
(f) call by Keng Yaik to remove the bad advisers,
(g) Zam's call to forget about re-capturing Kelantan and all the efforts and huge money spent
during the GE (what's the amount if we may know?).
(h) street protests/demonstration by UMNO in Penang and in Selangor. (it's an illegal grouping
i.e. without permits, any arrests been made by police?)
For states held by opposition coalition of Barisan Rakyat i.e. Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor and Penang have appointed their Menteri Besar and Ketua Menteri respectively while Perak will be officially appointed within the next few days. The squabllings we hear and read, about formation of state government by opposition coalition are mainly expected as this is a new formation unlike BN. Given time and the composition structure, rakyat do have hopes on this multi-racial state governments which represents the aspirations of a multi-racial modern Malaysian society.
With PM announcing that he would be naming a smaller Cabinet, we could expect some surprises and whether;
(a) PM will still hold the same portfolio as before the dissolution of the Government for GE and
(b) whether his son-in-law would be given either a Ministerial, deputy or senator position.
It will be interesting to note of the events which would be taking place within the next few weeks and determine what lies ahead for Malaysians.

UMNO Re-invention?
"Sebelum Negara Tergadai, Berundurlah Pak Lah"
I was greeted by the banner with the UMNO logo which says the above earlier this morning and I asked myself many questions as to the ownership and motive of the banner although it says clearly.
I had thought that the banner on the pedestrian crossing at the Setiawangsa LRT station was one off till I saw many more being strung in common fashion with different messages but directed to the same person.
What's next?

March 9, 2008 A Brand New Malaysia
Malaysians delivered their verdict on March 8, 2008 and in the early morning hours of March 9, 2008 when the official results were announced, it was clear that an unprecendented change in Malaysian political landscape had taken place. It was a shocking winds of change to many including the contesting politicians and what most political analysts termed as "tsunami". The final verdict reads;
Parliamentary seats;
BN - 140 seats
PKR - 31 seats
DAP - 28 seats
PAS - 23 seats
Malaysians in Selangor, Perak, Penang and Kedah had embraced a new dawn of state leadership change to Opposition. It gives a fresh new hope and air of rejuvenation among the people in those west peninsula states for more structured non-racial based development, security and prosperity for all. It proves beyond the Government controlled electronic and print media, the sentiments of the Malaysians were unhappy towards the BN Government.
For the Opposition, this is the opportunity for them to deliver their promises and to show their capability of the mandate given by the people. Their performance will be closely monitored not only by Malaysians but also the ruling coalition.
A successful state management by the Opposition coalition for the next 5 years would encourage Malaysians to provide a bigger mandate in the next election and making it difficult for BN to regain control. The ruling coalition of BN will now be hard-pressed to manage the country without a 2/3 majority and they too, will be scrutinised by the Opposition whom had garnered 82 Parliamentary seats. BN, will have to double their efforts amidst reduced composition of other races in the ruling coalition Parliamentary representatives.
Now, BN cannot really claim to be the champions of multi-racial representatives of Malaysians with the major loss of the MIC Chief and Deputy Chief, Gerakan Acting Chief, PPP Chief and a host of other Ministers especially from MCA. The BN leadership would have to truly "re-invent" themselves to start attracting Malaysians again in what apparent of lost of faith in the ruling coalition agendas.
The BN leadership were clearly shown the rakyats' displeasure over certain policies and events leading up to the 12th General Elections but was arrogant on retaining the 2/3 without taking precautionary steps to address issues at hand. BN had Sabah and Sarawak to thank for staying in power as those 2 states had delivered 54 seats in total, which had it fallen into the hands of Opposition, the country leadership would have changed hands.
Let money politics be a culture of the past!
Let public security be reinforced!
Let corruption be a past!
Let cronyism be a past!
Let racial polarisation be a past!
Let enonomic polarisation be a past!
Let "dynasty" politics be a past!
March 8, 2008, was truly a historic day and it is time for Malaysians from all political parties to leave their ideologies behind, close ranks and drive Malaysia to where we are supposed to be after 50 years of independence.
Congratulations to all elected Malaysian representatives of the 12th GE and start delivering your promises from now till 13th GE 2013(or earlier)!

Stand Up And Be Counted
I voted for BN in 2004 as I want to see continuity and was "taken" by the manifesto then besides riding on a feel good climate then. Then 4 years passed, we realised that there is seriously a "Perjuangan Yang Belum Selesai" by the rakyat and how ironic but true was Tun Dr Mahathir when he wrote this poetry in 1996.
Now in 2008 we Malaysians are faced with a clear scenario of what needs to be achieved to move forward as a developed country. We are now many rungs below countries which used to be below us like Vietnam, Korea and etc. but have now overtaken us. Why?
March 8, 2008 marks the 12th General Election and like many other fellow Malaysians, we will exercise our right as a citizen of this land we loved and proud to be called Rakyat Malaysia. Will the Rakyat Malaysia stand up and be counted to vote for the rightful Government and representatives to represent Malaysia in the eyes of the world (not Eyes On Malaysia) .
Unlike many elections which Malaysians have gone through for 50 years as independence, never had I felt that the BN Government had stooped so slow and resort to sending appeal letters signed by the Premier (caretaker at this juncture) to vote for BN to continue in power. It's really embarassing and certainly in Malaysia Boleh spirit!
How low can you go?

Ring on that little finger!
The significance of wearing a ring?
Commonly, wedding ring are worn on the third finger of the left hand associated with affections, optimism, and artistic appreciation.
What about wearing on your little finger of your right hand?
It’s called the ‘antenna’ in modern palmistry as it’s concerned with communication at all levels: verbal, signal and sexual. A person bearing more than one ring on the little finger may be inclined to bend the truth, be they in the field of business, education, finance or the media. When the ring on this digit is large, it indicates a desire to communicate more effectively. It’s enormously common for sexually available or sexually curious people to wear a large ring on the little finger. On both sexes, large or multiple rings on the passive little finger signal an absent or difficult relationship with one of the parent figures. This means they may not feel free to openly express feelings in a personal relationship. The multi-ringed antenna digit is endemic in the sex industry. To enhance your verbal skills and renounce any issues in intimacy, wear a small, fine platinum or white gold ring (for absolute purity and clarity) on the passive hand’s little finger. You’ll notice an immediate sense of freedom and openness in your thoughts, speech and communication.
So what does the ring on that little finger is for? ;-)

The Star, 01 March 2008
Experts say the little finger is the relationship finger and ruled by Mercury, the god of communication, wit, commerce and sexuality. It is located farthest from the thumb, the self, and is turned out toward other people and the outer environment. This finger expresses man's attitudes toward personal and sexual relationships. It is associated with rewards, both on a personal and materialistic level.

Election banners road safety poser
As political parties step up its gear on election campaign, we do no hope that safety of road users are not compromised!
We do know that a physchological battle gets underway to woo voters with party banners, buntings and flags. However, the amount of such party campaign tools prove distracting to road users and causes danger especially at traffic lights. We do hope local Government authorities tear down such banners, buntings and flags which are distracting road users. Follow the action of Majlis Perbandaran Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu and in this capital city of Kuala Lumpur, DBKL should emulate that.
Political party stickers are also sticked onto public property such as bus stops, road dividers, lamp post, traffic lights and etc. Isn't the local authorities doing something about this as well? This is tantamounts to vandalism!!!
Even though certain political parties have much more banners, buntings and flags, that does not mean that you have support but it's just a physchological ploy.
Malaysian Road Warrior!
Spotted this Malaysian version Road Warrior along Jalan Tun Razak (near Royal Selangor Golf Club) riding his "steel horse" without a helmet although he has one. I guess personal convenience over rules road safety. When will there be a such an attitude change???
Voting is a bet Mr Koh?
"Don't Bet On Candidates", Says Koh as reported by Bernama on March 01, 2008
Are you telling Malaysians to bet on BN for another term?
Mr Koh has to realise here that there is an element of risk daily that we as humans undertake. It is in the same context that the risk here is in voting the right candidates for the coming 12th General Election. The situation as compared to 2004 is slightly different then when Malaysians were riding on a euphoria of a good growing economy and amidst development which had kept everyone feeling good. Malaysia then was a respected country worldwide and recognition of Chairmanship of various groupings was evident of the support as compared to now.
At that instance, BN had a resounding win thumping the Opposition while the Malaysian public had given a firm mandate to BN to further rule the country for another 5 years. The risk the Malaysian public had taken then was to bet on the BN candidates fielded then to continue develop the nation and grow further ahead from 2004. Promises of Cemerlang, Gemilang & Terbilang had been a dissapointment leading to this year's manifesto of Peace, Security and Prosperity which all points to a less enthusiastic ruling coalition manifestoin their 50 year history.
What revealed afterwards to the rakyat was that they discovered that their bet on the BN "horses" had turned ugly amidst the many revelations or "expose" that they were riding on the lame "horses" whom had decided to just be fed and lived a good life themselves ignoring their "owners" plea of good governance and trustworthy to the rakyat. The rakyat had felt that their bets had caused them a big hole in their purchasing power while the gap between the rich and poor gets bigger.
4 years now and how quick can the bet on the wrong "horses" in 2004 would encourage the owners to change and placed their bets on "horses" which would represent them well besides acting as a "check and balance" should BN win (formality).
The results had been less then encouraging and in any venture, a drastic decision would have to be made to aleviate the situation to ensure that from 2008, the elected Government would provide a better achievement and results for the people of Malaysia.
In this instance, the people of Malaysia would be willing to place their bets on Opposition rather then the "horses" which had been serving their masters for 50 years with the last 4 years as near disaster. Come March 8, it would be a mere formality for many constituency that voting would be a thumbs up for the People's Front (Barisan Rakyat).
So Mr Koh, BN had failed the rakyats' bets on you to deliver and it is time to bet on others. We gave you 4 years and there would be nothing wrong to give the Opposition a 5 year term to deliver their promises to serve the rakyat.
