Week after 12th General Election .......

Malaysian political scene on March 8 went into uncharted territories and brought rise a new dimension to the country leadership and governance. With Barisan Nasional (BN) suffering a beating, a "re-invention" of the coalition and Ministries is poised to take place while it remains anybody's guess till to-date;

Interesting events had taken place thus far as at March 14, 2008;
(a) the call for PM's resignation by UMNO members including Mukhriz Mahathir's purported
letter,
(b) major component party Presidents decline to accept Ministerial positions,
(c) the postponement and still undecided Menteri Besar for Terengganu,
(d) the appointment of Md Isa Sabu as Perlis Menteri Besar instead of Shahidan Kassim,
candidate recommended by PM,
(e) the emergence of banners around KL city calling for PM's resignation,
(f) call by Keng Yaik to remove the bad advisers,
(g) Zam's call to forget about re-capturing Kelantan and all the efforts and huge money spent
during the GE (what's the amount if we may know?).
(h) street protests/demonstration by UMNO in Penang and in Selangor. (it's an illegal grouping
i.e. without permits, any arrests been made by police?)

For states held by opposition coalition of Barisan Rakyat i.e. Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor and Penang have appointed their Menteri Besar and Ketua Menteri respectively while Perak will be officially appointed within the next few days. The squabllings we hear and read, about formation of state government by opposition coalition are mainly expected as this is a new formation unlike BN. Given time and the composition structure, rakyat do have hopes on this multi-racial state governments which represents the aspirations of a multi-racial modern Malaysian society.

With PM announcing that he would be naming a smaller Cabinet, we could expect some surprises and whether;
(a) PM will still hold the same portfolio as before the dissolution of the Government for GE and
(b) whether his son-in-law would be given either a Ministerial, deputy or senator position.

It will be interesting to note of the events which would be taking place within the next few weeks and determine what lies ahead for Malaysians.
