Only PM Can Comment On Polls Date, Says Khairy

KEPALA BATAS, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin says only the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, has the absolute power and right to comment on the general election date."

No need to ask politicians or ministers including the Election Commission chairman (Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman)... I don't understand why he (Abdul Rashid) said the election is around the corner," said Khairy who called for a stop to speculations on the election date by any quarters.

Khairy was responding to reporters' questions after he launched the "Happy Family, Cheerful Society" organised by the Yayasan Budi Penyayang here today.

Asked to comment on the election fever being felt in the country, Khairy said some groups have resorted to turn current issues such as cooking oil shortage and extra charges imposed by schools and parent-teacher associations into political issues.

"The temperature of the general election is very high to the point that whatever action taken by the government is considered to be for the benefit of the general election," he added.-- BERNAMA

Why then does Government elected personnel like Election Commission chairman have to declare he knows the Election is round the corner? Does this mean that the Chairman has been speculating or the vow to ensure a free and fair election as declared in the motto, objectives and vision (http://www.spr.gov.my/) are all rhetorics with inclination to serve the ruling Government instead of the rakyat and His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after consultation with the Conference of Rulers in Article 114.

If the Chairman could utter quotes like he is aware election is round the corner, then he could have conceal information which he has access and had not made known to all political parties which again shows on whose side EC chairman is. Fair and free election? Ahemmm ........

Mr Khairy, current issues are for real! It's happening and how can it happen???? What went wrong? Don't blame the groups, political parties, individuals on these current issues as any efficient management of such situation requires leaders with absolute integrity and knowledge.

If you have leaders who don't know what the situation is or what is he talking about then why bother be a Minister even a Prime Minister? In leadership by example, it reflects on the leadership if his subordinates had mismanage, involved with corruption, illicit sex or arrogant in making statements like "Take Your Money Back" This is stupidity and yet, manage education portfolio.

If Mr Hishamuddin thinks why previously people can afford and now cannot, then he has been just hovering above the ground all this while. We rakyat wants our children to be educated and willing to pay monies to ensure that they have a better future with education, but when an Election budget goes out saying free education, who is to blame? Most definitely all parents would want their monies back and spend on some other necessities given that cost of living is not going any lower.

Mr Khairy, Mr Hishamuddin and all "elite" group would have the funds to send their kids to private schools and pay the thousands in school fees. The silent majority of rakyat cannot afford the luxuries you are able to. Period!

Damai Malaysia would be better off speaking for majority in this context and secure the support from the NGOs. Think again, which silent majority would trust a non-appointed group talking of behalf!!! Stay away Damai Malaysia ....... we don't need you to represent us!
