if flying the national flag is for show

August 31st is the independence day of Malaysia and signifies the month long patriotic flag waving for all Malaysians as a display of their love and dedication to the country.

While the date is always celebrated with a mammoth National Day parade, this year's celebrations is reduced to a minimal fanfare as it falls on the holy fasting Ramadhan month of the Muslims.

However, the flying the Malaysian flag is still seen not only at office buildings but on public transport vehicles whizzing along the trunk roads and highways with some 1 ton lorry flying flags bigger then they would be able to.

Would the authorities ignore the danger it poses to the road users in the name of patriotism?

While saying that, the amount of national flags which came off from the mounting on the vehicles are increasing and seen lying on the public roads. Will this pose a danger to road users again and if it was rolled over, would it be considered unpatriotic?

Are the drivers supposed to avoid the flags lying on the road?

For office buildings, the organizations are encouraged to beautify their premises and fly the national flags high especially Government offices. If the idea of flying the national flags are as in the picture above, I would suggest that the company discard totally the embarassment of a torn flag and f;ag touching the ground.

Will the owners of the national flags whenever and wherever you are hanging or flying it, do it with pride as a Malaysian!
