Deteriorating discipline in school had always been a point of contention between the teachers and parents. Whose responsibility to discipline the students remains the question either party would choose to stay non-commital although the teachers would feel that the attitude of the students should be harness from home.
Shouldn't it be a joint effort?
Students of today face stronger peer pressure as compared to yesteryears and due to the materialistic wants e.g. handpohones which pushes them to seek ways of securing the extra cash to purchase the item to keep up with their fellow students besides forming peer groups.
Handphones for example, simple and basic is not acceptable anymore but they demand for feature packed handsets with MP3, higher pixel camera phones, WiFi enabled adn lots more.
Shouldn't the teachers then monitor the students in the schools? The small groups they formed could grow and sets the beginning of peer influence which more requent then not, lower the academic performance of the student and school.
The following pictures reflect the Secondary School students of Kuala Lumpur trying to leave the school event held at Stadium Selayang earlier than the time defined by the school.
The one on the ground (right) had made the maiden leap for the others to follow while encouraging the rest amidst the cheer from "spectators" above who were seen cheering and clapping at the achievement of the the first jumper.
Sensing the loud cheers would alert the teachers, the "first jumper" walks away while the other two tried their luck in leaping out of the at least 10 feet stadium walls with a drain just below them. One of them later sprained his ankle and had to endure a rub down from a fellow "escapee".
