1 Malaysia? Has this slogan been oversold in many ways and threaten to self destruct in its own ways? I would personally think so! UNFORTUNATELY!
1 Malaysia augurs well for the people of Malaysia. Wait haven't we been leaving harmoniously before? And why after 55 years we need 1 Malaysia?
I had been one of those faithful Malaysians, who would love to check what BR1M, KR1M, etc all about including recently, I came across KB1M. "What animal is that?"many may ask but that's what Malaysia is all about today i.e. everything ends with the 1M. Even in products and services of some presumably, Government linked private companies. I guess like many other Malaysians (if not the majority), they have grown real tired of this 1M "mania".
I have not!! Seriously!!
I saw this KB1M signage by the roadside nearing Section 10, Wangsa Maju, KL. Curiosity got the better of me, despite my children's rejection, about what KB1M brought me to the outlet without any customer in sight! I had thought it was close but it's open, the smile on my face appeared again.
The smile quickly turned sour when that "teeny meeny" outlet had more books on Islam than what a bookstore to cater for all Malaysians would have been. Real F#@*king dissapointing!!
If the Malaysian Government invested taxpayers monies into this KB1M venture than I will definitely not vote for Bee End!!!
I don't know about other outlets but if the Wangsa Maju outlet is to be used as a yardstick, then I would stick to my regular bookstores of Popular, MPH, Kinokuniya, wholesale cash and carry stores for stationery which is cheap and serves its purpose.
To those uninitiated with 1 Malaysia mania, KB1M stands for Kedai Buku 1 Malaysia which was launched by "who else", father of 1 Malaysia on 22nd September 2012. So if you ask me if the KB1M slogan of 'Bacaan Mampu Milik Untuk Semua Pada Harga Berpatutan' is appropriate, my naswer would be, what read?
So there goes another 1M fairy tale!
